Intermediate Microeconomics
|
|
|
- Required Text
- J. Prager, Applied Microeconomics: An Intermediate Text (Irwin,
1993)
- Lecture Sequencing
- Lectures will follow the chapter order of the text.
- Study Groups
- This course may prove deceptively easy. It is not. Consequently, you
might find it worthwhile to study on a regular basis with a classmate.
- Exercises
- You will be assigned exercises periodically. But
you ought to test your understanding of the course more frequently.
You might consider using the questions at the end of each text chapter
for this purpose. Exercises must be submitted by 6 PM of the date indicated.
You must submit a hard copy, leaving it in the mailbox of the course's
TA (name to be announced ASAP). Exercises submitted after the due
date and time will not be accepted.
- Exams
- Two hour-long class exams will be scheduled in conjunction
with class preferences. The content of these optional exams will be limited.
In contrast, the final examination will be comprehensive as well as compulsory.
The final grade will be calculated as a weighted average of exams taken
as well as the homework assignments.
- Prerequisite
- Students who are registered for the intermediate
micro course without the introductory micro prerequisite should consider
dropping out.
- Website
- Much of the class material -- assignments and due dates, sample exam
questions, exam dates, text errata -- will be found on my website: www.econ.nyu.edu/dept/courses/prager/prager.htm
- Office Hours
- I have not scheduled regular office hours this semester. But I will
be available in my office at 269 Mercer, Room 704 by appointment. You
can easily arrange an appointment by speaking to me after class, calling
me at 998-8911, or e-mailing me at: Jonas.Prager@nyu.edu.
You are also urged to use e-mail to ask questions or address comments,
to which I normally respond within 24 hours.
